Sahir heart throb of millions of people. Glittering face of Pakistan has a fan frenzy appearance, He is successful but his success story is as same as any run-of-the-mill around. Once while interacting with young students at a school ceremony, he expressed, “I pray for you all that one day you become Sahir Lodhi or better…” Sahir always articulates common man’s language. Over his life, he has always believed in making so many people one people. His fans, not cynically or ironically but with fervent and zealous love, refer to him as a Super King.

Sahir was born on 21st May, in the town of Karachi, Pakistan. His childhood home was sprawling heritage building of very old bricks, mixed cultural, sub-urban Karachi, at Railway Colony Karachi Cantonment. He grew up at the same place and then moved to USA where he spent almost 14 years of his life, did masters in petroleum engineering.

Sahir is a second child of Ali Gohar Lodhi and Roshan Taj Lodhi among four children. He has a sister and two brothers, including him there are three. The eldest one is Aamir Lodhi. Sahir calls him bhai sahab. He works with him. The youngest one is Tahir Lodhi. He owns a routing company. Than comes the doll of the family Shahista Wahidi. She is in fact Dr. Shahista Wahidi. Sahir calls her guriya. She hosts a show at ARY Digital. Sahir is forever close to her sister. They have a tremendous chemistry and understanding of each other.

Time flues and so it did after almost a decade and 4 years abroad he moved back to Pakistan. Shahista Wahidi took him to Ghazanfar Ali, there Sahir was given his first break. He started hosting his first ever show morning transmission and a show called Chai Time.

After that life was never the same, he got busier by the second working in plays, teleflims, serials, sitcoms and soaps not to mention the first ever late night show of Pakistan “Yeh Sham Teray Naam”. He did Geo Television’s ‘Shair Online’, ‘Kuch Tum Kahao Kuch Hum Kahain’,’Ranjhey Sassi Punoon Heer’ a game show ‘Dhorajee’ from Ary Digital, later on ‘The Sahir Lodhi Show’ from TV One and than ‘Morning Masala’ from News One and couple of projects here and there.

He has acted in drama serials and single plays. ‘Bechrain Gay Abb Kaisay’, ‘Bikharnay Say Pehlay’, ‘Tum Miyray Ho’, ‘Khado Khal’, ‘Saheli’, ‘Adhoray Khaab’ are the projects he has acted in and couple of other serials as well.

He started with theater. It’s his life. He says, “If I die, you shake me up and say you have to act in a play. I will get up , I promise I’ll, I’ll open my eyes and say, tell me what’s the character. I will do it.” Same goes for his radio show called The Sahir Show on Mast fm 103. Radio is his passion and his honesty. When you ask him to say something about his radio show, he says, “Malik-ol-moot makes sure you catch me on days when I am not doing my radio, any of those five days, no chance, I am not dieing.”

Nowadays, Sahir is into establishing his foundation, ‘The Sahir Lodhi Foundation’ where he is focusing on 5 dimensions of life (A) Primary health care, (B) Education, (C) Opportunities, (D) Motivation Inspiration and (E) Legal Aid. One of Sahir’s most favorite quotes is “its not how you start its how you finish” and certainly this is not his biography, this is the beginning of the beginning. Work continues…

i wish to meet my favorite star SAHIR LODHI '', said sher bano

A 13 years old girl sher bano is suffering from hepatitis C. She is undergoing treatment at Civil Hospital. She spends most of her time in bed. She has a craze to have a TV so she could watch her favorite TV programs. Unfortunately her father died when she was very young so she is left with her mother being the only one running the family with inability to afford a TV set for her daughter.

Sher bano also wished to meet her favorite TV star Mr. Sahir Lodhi as she loves to watch his programs. Make-A-Wish Foundation Pakistan has fulfilled her cherished wish by giving her a TV set which was presented to her by her favorite TV artist Mr. Sahir Lodhi and donated by LG Electronics. Sheherbano was overjoyed not only because her wish was fulfilled but also because she was able to meet her favorite hero.

The Sahir Lodhi omnibus gets bigger
Sahir Lodhi moves to Geo and the channel organises a star studded program to mark the
arrival of the King of Talk before his show goes on air.

The talk show phenomenon has escalated into a completely different level in Pakistan: these people aren’t only hosts, they have become larger than life entertainers with massive fan followings. Sahir Lodhi is perhaps the only successful man in this new form of ‘entertainment’, showing that hosting isn’t a purely female-dominated region. With his entry into the Geo Television, Sahir has left no stones unturned.

The launch show that was recently attended by hundreds of loyal fans (some giggling shrieking males and females alike) was perhaps something nobody had expected. While the show had been moved to an indoor location after several attempts at producing an even bigger show outdoors (thanks to our security issues and unpredictable awam), that did not prevent the organizers from going all out to produce one of the finest sets seen on Pakistani television.

The show was undoubtedly at the same level as any award ceremony: you had an incredible team of back up dancers. Sonu Dangerous and his crew were responsible for delivering some extremely well-coordinated choreography and fun dance moves, on some very popular Bollywood numbers such as ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’ from Dabangg, and ‘Dhanno’ from Housefull.

The stage consisted of a massive orchestra present onstage at all times during the show, which included guitarists, percussionists, violinists, tablas and every other instrument one can imagine, and they were well-rehearsed and very talented. Even the lighting, onstage and offstage, gave a sense of grandeur, because the massive stage was surrounded by walls of shimmering white and silver, as tiny rice lights glistened against a black background.

Clearly the arrangement was made fit for a king, and why wouldn’t it be, considering how some of the biggest musicians of our music industry were present to perform on stage and entertain the crowd. Fariha Pervaiz, Shiraz Uppal, Ahmed Jahanzeb, and Amanat Ali were among some of them. Also gracing the evening with her presence was our very own Meera Ji. Even the film industry was present, with the likes of Layla, Ahsan Khan and Shamil Khan, who also took part in the performances.

Chote Ustaad, a show which had children participating from both India and Pakistan were also given the platform to perform once they’d gotten back from India, after a tough challenge of competing with the Indian singers. They would all perform at least one duet with one singer. While all these children were incredible, Rouhan Abbas, (who was also the winner of the competition) simply blew the crowd away, when he challenged Sahir to a singing competition and wowed the crowd by singing just one verse of the song ‘Sajda’, from the movie My Name Is Khan.

While all these performances were incredible, Sahir Lodhi still managed to stand out from amongst them all. He clearly was the star of the show, and whenever he would appear on stage, even for a few seconds, to introduce the next act, the crowd would be going wild (especially the women, who just wouldn’t stop screaming.) Also, when Sahir came down in to the audience, women were actually running to him from rows of seats away.

What has made this talk show host into a sensation? The fact that he has tried an unconventional way and has turned himself into an entertainer. Sahir Lodhi himself performed a number of dances, along with the rest of the dancers and actors. He even sang many songs simultaneously. But what made him a hit with the audience was the charm and wit he exhibited while conversing with the audience on stage.

He would casually crack jokes and poke fun at the institution of marriage and our politicians and would keep changing get ups and asking the audience what they thought of his clothes. He made everything even more real by commenting on how uncomfortable his dhoti was and how he couldn’t wait for the next outfit change.

Therefore, even though he had all these larger-than-life performances, and an incredible arrangement (thumbs up to Events Unlimited for pulling this off), he made the show his own by being himself, which is why his fans love him in the first place.

While the show was lengthy and ended quite late into the night, his loyal fans, who were also truly enjoying the evening, were sitting till the very end to see what all he could bring to the table. With such an incredible opening, one can only imagine the wonders he will do once his talk show on Geo starts airing this December.
